With the explosion of the Holder populations, the numbers of children and Apprentices also went up. Because of this, the College moved itself to Benden Weyr which had plenty of room for the massive amount of records, students and belongings of the Crafthall. Fort Hold still retains the largest concert Hall though, and it is considered an Honor to be invited to listen to a concert there.

Harpers-Some are musicians as the name hints, while others are teachers, judges or politicians. The MasterHarpers of North and South are the heads of their colleges, as well as being two of the most powerful men on Pern. Literacy is common on Pern since most Apprentices are taught basic reading, writing and math by their Masters. Not everyone is literate though and literacy rates go down sharply as you move outwards from the Holds and Weyrs. Harpers have ‘hinted’ immunity and may travel where they please. A Northern Harper is not always welcome in the South, and vice versa for a Southern Harper. Female Masters are rare in the possession, usually one in three hundred, Journeymen are slightly more common, one in fifty and Apprentices more common yet, one in thirty. Marriage and children often keep women from advancing in ranks.
Apprentices: Learn musicality, basic knowledge, and how to make various instruments. Once they have demonstrated mastership in these areas they move onto Journeyman.
Journeyman: Begin reading and writing music and learning to play the instruments they made. They also continue academic lessons if they are going to pursue teaching. By about turn 3 of being a Journeyman, the student begins to specialize on an instrument or a group of instruments.
Master: A Journeyman attains Master status once a certain condidtion has been met and agreed upon by several Masters. For musical Harpers they must create five Masterpieces, which can take several Turns of trial and error. Teaching Harpers must prove their knowledge of Pernese knowledge.
Healers-The Healers follow the same ranking system as their fellow crafthalls. Benden is where the rare cases of human injury or sickness are taken to be examined. Apprentices learn basic first aid, as well as memorizing plants, their usages and various medications. They do not diagnose any sicknesses, their time is spent making the medications. Journeymen learn to diagnose and treat sickness. Most small holds have a Journeyman and Apprentice to see to their needs as the MasterHealers are rare. MasterHealers tend to be older, in their third decade, and have learned the invasive body techniques, or surgery. Once you obtain your Mastery in the Healer Hall you are expected to teach and pass on your knowledge. Most Masters go out to the large holds and teach the Journeymen and Apprentices there. To obtain Mastery, Journeyman must return to Benden to study. It is possible to become an Apprentice and Journeyman without ever going to Benden, though all Apprentices wanting Journeyman status must go to Taskin. Women Masters are rare, one in five hundred, Journeyman are about one in three hundred. Female Apprentices learn herblore and midwifery which is enough for most of them.
HoldCrafts
Most Crafts on Pern have a central Hall in Benden and Taskin and then smaller halls all across Pern. These crafts are more common and don’t really need the formal teachings of Harper and Healer college. These are mostly the art crafts and common everyday crafts that most people learn a bit in. Weaver, Smith, Artist, Jeweler, Seamstress, Cook, and the like which are known to most people. These crafts do not require a student to travel to a central location to study and in fact when these students obtain Mastery they usually replace their Master. Apprentices are usually taken into these crafts because they show an affinity to the craft or some aspect thereof. Each Apprentice moves forward as their Master dictates. Weaver and Seamstress are very female heavy with Cook being so-so. Smith, Artist and Jeweler are male dominated though you will find the occasional woman.

BeastCraft
After Keroon Hold was destroyed, the Northern Beastcrafthall moved itself to Igen Weyr. This Weyr was close to a major river which would allow for easy shipping. It had a mild climate and was of sufficient distance from Northern Weyr and Keroon. The Beastcraft does not require formal training though the few who do go there to learn are looked on with more respect. Male dominated, very few women become BeastCraft Apprentices and even fewer become Journeymen, and there are no female Masters. Popular in the Northern continent, where runners are more popular, is a movement for Journeymen and Apprentice Healers to switch and become BeastCraft Apprentices. Such men are often much sought after to care for runner strings.
*It should be noted that with the exception of Weaver and Seamstress, women rarely make it to Journeymen level in the South and will never make Master. Women are far more common to have positions in the North. Also most women in the South are functionally literate only in math and basic reading.
