Greens
Sexes: Male and Female
Preferences: Hetero/Bi/Home
Basics: Greens tend to Impress submissive (as in not dominant) type personalities that are drawn to being part of a team instead of leading a team or being alone. Not all male greenriders are homosexual, in fact the majority of them are circumstanchily bisexual. The heterosexual male greenrider deals with his green's flight outcome but doesn't have to enjoy it or favor it. Indeed he can get over the one night stand and go back to chasing skirts. A heterosexual man who would make a poor leader would be and usually are Impressed by greens. Women and homosexual men tend to Impress green because of a psychological, and phsyiological, similarity. Submissive does not mean quiet and laid back, not on Pern anyway. It simply indicates a lack of leadership quality and stability. Green dragons tend to be mouthy with quite a bit of sarcasm.
Blues
Sexes: Male and Female
Preferences: Hetero/Bi/Homo
Basics: Most men who ride blue are heterosexual and tend to be more dominating in their personality. The reason for Impressing blue and not some other color could lie in that fact that the man lacks a personal quality needed for higher colors. A woman who Impresses blue is probably Bisexual with a tendency towards being very dominate without the tact a goldrider would need. Both Male and females could be homosexual on blue and would usually be of dominant mindset. All blue riders tend to be stabler than their green counterparts but would still make horrible leaders.
Brown
Sexes: Male Only - though a certain type of woman could ride
Preferences: Hetero/Bi
Basics: Browns tend to Impress men of the same type. They tend to be quiet, intelligent men with steady personalities who can be relied upon in times of crisis. Most to all of them are heterosexual but for those who catch greenriding males, they deal with it. A brownrider is not prone to recklessness and they tend to have the most neutral of personality types. This is not to say all riders are the same, but the majority follow this guideline.
Bronze
Sexes: Male Only
Preferences: Hetero
Basics: Bronzeriders come in all types though almost all of them will have strong dominant personalities. Most of them will have leadership qualities though they may not make a good leader. Not all bronzes will be good leaders, in fact most of them would have been on blue if not for a strong personality and certain standout characteristics. Most bronzeriders are heterosexual and will rarely allow their dragons to chase a green ridden by a man. They will instead turn their minds towards Weyrfolk and the goldriders.
Gold
Sexes:Female Only
Preferences: Hetero
Basics: Women with strong personalities tempered by motherly attitudes will usually be found on gold dragons. Whether or not the personality is a leadership one is up for debate but no one will doubt the personality's strength. These woman are always heterosexual and will not need to worry about ever waking up in bed with a woman as only men ride brown and bronze. The first gold to rise in a Weyr after the Sr.'s death will become the Senior gold, this is not always the best choice for leadership as some gold riders can be quite snooty. It has been seen that most golds will Impress to holdbred girls, though a few do go after Weyr girls. All dragons obey Golds but that is the extent of submissive behavior from the colors.
