It was just like Southern for it to be a beautiful day. And of course, it just so happened to coincide with her day to have all to her own. Granted that was sometimes harder for her to accept than a day in which she was irreputably busy. Roslynn therefore deducted that it would be a good time to go for a walk. It was mid-summer after all and the beach was not terribly far away. Indeed, she could swim, but being primarilly terrestrial, she hadn't wander too close or splashed too hard. In any case, she followed the well-worn wide path to the beach and found her eyes taking in the sight of the pale blue waters and the gentle wave crests. Roslynn knelt down and removed her boots and stockings and carrying them with her began to wade along the shoreline.
"Isiloth rose." Roslynn said to herself quietly. "She'll have clutched by the end of the turn, I'm sure." She mused. The water lapped against her ankles and the soft spray of salt water dampened the hem of her skirt. "I should get myself searched by then." Roslynn delved into thought. One way or another she was going to wear a white candidate rob and she'd not take no for an answer. Her future was atop a dragon's back, of that she was sure.

Is there a reason that woman is talking to herself? Make her stop so I can sleep, Regryth ordered him imperiously, eye opened and staring at him so he knew she meant it. "Go back to sleep", I'tel ordered the green. She gave him a growl and lifted her head before snorting in Roslynn's direction. She was about to say something to the girl when she stopped. "Well, say something", I'tel replied sitting up in the sandy beach. The green was not shy about making her feelings known to anyone and for her to be brought up short was a sign, good or not was up to someone else.
Go get her for me, the green shook her head, hide sparkling in the sunlight. "Must I?", the look she shot him made him climb to his feet and dust himself off. He wandered over to the girl, hands in his pockets, "Can I help you with something?", he asked. He'd never been accused of being nice to women, they weren't his type after all but the tone wasn't rude at least, more curious than anything else. Regryth had very good instincts for Search.

Roslynn stopped walking and watched the greenrider approach her. At first she had thought that perhaps this was it. This was her search. And then she was disappointed only to find that he was wondering what she was up to and if she needed help. Her eyes clearly detailed her drop of enthusiasm as he approached but still she managed a small friendly smile.
"I'm not lost and I'm not looking for anything that I lost, so I don't suppose you can, but thank you all the same." Roslynn replied to him. She looked past him to the green dragon lounging in the sun and how she watched them. Why was she looking at her like that? Was the green afraid that she would do something to her rider? "Is there something wrong with your green? She seems to be staring very intently our way." Roslynn asked, her face becoming serious.
It would be nice if he was among the Southern searchriders and though she ought to know them by now, she regrettably did not. Roslynn was curious though, his knots were a little different. Perhaps he was. In any case, she would wait for his reponse. The wind that blew made her snag her blonde waves and she looked back to the green as she held her tresses in one hand.

I'tel turned his head to look over his shoulder at Regryth, lifting an eyebrow as he studied her. "Her? Not very inconspicuous is she? How much obvious could a dragon get?", he laughed and shrugged. "She usually can't help herself when she's sees people", he added, removing a hand from his pocket and brushing his wind blown hair to the side. Tell her mine. Quit wasting time and just get it over with, the dragon snorted. Why? She'll just be doing the same thing once she is official as she is now. Let her Impress from the stands, I'tel answered the dragon.
From behind him came an answering snort, A few thumping steps and Regryth stretched her head over I'tel's shoulder. I will take care of you later. Tell her, she snapped her mouth shut right beside I'tel, teeth clashing maliciously. "Would you do Southern Weyr the honor of standing for Isiloth's clutch? Even though we are a few sevendays early", he asked Rosalinde.

Rosalinde's eyes fell on Regryth with some degree of hope. Was this green among those dragons who could read the potential of young men and women? Was that why she was staring? It wasas I'tel had said afterall, she could not help it. Rosalinde's heart beat increased in tempo and though she appeared calm, her eyes looked solidly at Regryth, wanting to know what the green thought of her. Wanting her strong belief in what she was certain was her future to be affirmed. She needed it more than anyone else could.
When I'tel spoke again, the words echoed in her head and she stared at him as if this were but a dream. Blinking her deep indigo eyes at him the sudden realization showed itself in the way they glittered and sparkled as she smiled widely, her face brightening. Clasping her hands to keep from displaying her overjoyed excitement from leaping out of her uncontrolled. "I would be most honored and proud to stand." Rosalinde said, her voice almost trembling with glee. She had known it all along, just simply known that she had it in her. Know all she needed to prove it was to impress. With grateful eyes she looked beyond I'tel to Regryth and bowed her head, "Thank you, so very much."

I'tel nodded solemnly then broke into a smile as she thanked him. "Don't thank me. If you Impress well, hope you get a gold. D'mon won't let you stay here", he explained to her. He knew that truth all to well, his own sister had been sent North turns ago for Impressing her green. While Siten had yet to show her true strengths, D'mon was not a man to be crossed. It would be hard for Southern riders to go against their Weyrleader when they had been Weyrwomanless for a decade and more. Still, I'tel was assured of his spot no matter the regimen.
"And whether or not Weyrwoman Siten can make him change his mind on that is up to her. But I hope you have good luck. I'll inform the Headwoman of your status. You've been doing chores and such in the Weyr already?", he asked her, lifting a slim backbrow. The headwoman was in charge of the candidates and was responsible for making sure they did their chores, if they weren't under someone else's supervision.

"I intend to." Roslynn replied, her voice low, serious, and full of confident determination. She looked back at I'tel knowing that he meant to warn her that her chances dwindled with each new female candidate and that if she did not impress well, then she was doomed to be sent to North or to become a healer. It didn't matter, she knew the odds. Roslynn was too sure of herself to even consider that she may fail.
She let I'tel speak of things she already knew. Things that were easy to understand already. Things that did not matter to her because they were not options. Roslynn nodded to his question, "Yes, I have been acting as an Apprentice Healer and as Weyr habitant, I have been doing chores." She had been doing chores since the day she arrived, most of her days filled with work. "I will gladly continue to perform them and anything else that is required of me."
