The population of the still-young Fireweed Weyr is slowly growing. Too slowly. In only six more turns, Thread will once again fall over Pern, and the Weyr's dragon population is pathetically small, with the Weyrs that originally promised Queenrider Madrona their support having offered a scant dozen dragons for the young Weyr between them. But there is hope yet to be had - 17 new weyrlings in the barracks with room for plenty more, and two approaching Flights expected to end in new clutches on the Sands.
Weyrsinger R'wena is still puzzling over the surprises that the last two clutches brought with them: white, black, and a pair of large greens with a strange metal shine to their hides, newly-dubbed as coppers. Will the answers stand to be found in the lineages of the dragonets' dams and sires, or is it something about the new Weyr which is affecting the dragons and their eggs? With more dragonets on the way, more clues to that mystery may be closer than anyone dares believe.
Once-firm alliances are getting decidedly shaky, too. A bronzerider from Southern Weyr gravely insulted gold Emblath after none of her offspring chose to Impress his son, resulting in the normally sweet-tempered Queen declaring that she'd allow the vicious Teth to maul him should he set foot in her Weyr again. As though that wasn't enough, the Lord Holder of the older of Fireweed's tithing Holds went behind the Queenrider's back to ensure his son had a spot on the Sands when Teth's clutch Hatched. The trickery would have been enough to strain the relationship between Weyr and Hold, but Ensio's Impression not to a longwing, as Lord A'san would have expected, but to a yellow dragon, made the tension two-sided.
Fireweed Weyr is a friendly, forum-based, non-canon roleplaying game based on Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series, with primarily low-key, interpersonal plots.
