A young green hatched into the world. Nocia wasn't surprised to see that her thought that there might be no greens in the clutch was an unfounded fear. Another blue and a larger dragonet had already hatched. The small blue looked pathetic and the larger dragonet seemed slow to want to find its rider. Her heart sunk when the blue betweened. Why could he not find his rider? She hardly noticed another green bull her way into the world with a lash of her tail.
The green was of medium size and her hide was astonishingly bright. Nocia had not known dragons came in such colors. Oh, if there was only a way to scoop those colors from her hide and use them to dye yarn! There were small darker spots, but they just seemed to magnify the brightness of the rest of her hide. The green ran up to Nocia and headbutted her leg.
Look at me! My Nocia, down here, your Jakalth is starving! How can you not notice me?
The impact against her leg made Nocia almost fall over, but it had the desired effect from the green's point of view in that it got her rider's attention. Nocia gave in to the rumbling in her new green's bell and led her to the food.
That bucket has the icky bits. I want this one!
Jakalth tried to climb onto the table to get to the specific bucket she wanted. That one was the best bucket and she would not have anything less. Nocia pulled the green away from the table firmly.
"The buckets are all the same, Jakalth." Wow, she was going to be a difficult baby to deal with. This was a very picky dragonet for sure.
No, they are not. I want the one I showed you.
Nocia decided that discretion was the better part of valor here, and grabbed the bucket that Jakalth had wanted. Yuck, the bits of meat were squishy, but Jakalth wanted her food now. Swallowing back a bit of bile, Nocia popped a few small pieces into her dragons mouth.
