Basic Weyrling Rules and Guidelines

These will be explained on Day One of Training. Remember not every lesson will be RPed, those lessons that are not, you will assume you already know the previous lessons.

1. Weyrlings do not have intimate relationships of any kind, including those that do not include sex, until the Weyrlingmaster gives the ok. Young dragons and their riders are given to excesses of emotions that can cause distress. Inflicting these strong emotions on the entire Weyr could be catastrophic. These emotions can confuse a dragonet, forcing them to between in panic.

2. Weyrlings cannot leave the Weyr without the Weyrlingmaster’s permission.

3. Do NOT try anything before you’ve been taught.

4. Harassing the younger Weyrlings or candidates will not be tolerated. Daring other Weyrlings to try something they have not been taught or to break rules will not be tolerated.

5. Full attention is to be given to the Weyrlingmasters. You will follow all orders as given which prepares you to join a fighting wing. Failure to follow orders could result in your death, your dragon’s death or another rider’s death during a Fall.

Training will be divided into two parts: Theory Lectures and Practical Training. These are the only lessons that will show up on the schedule. The other items are assumed, as in they continue everyday unless noted. Be aware there is a lot of repetition in lesson material.

Weyrlings are given one day off every sevenday. Events in the schedule do not take place at the same time everyday and some events may not occur at all.

Section One-Preflight Training

Month One

Overview of Lessons
1. Southern Weyr’s Honor Code
2. Basic Dragon Care-feeding(how, what and when to feed as well as what happens when a dragon overeats). Hygiene (cleaning, scrubbing, latrine tasks). Basic First Aid Care (numbweed use, wound care, creating a first aid kit for each pair). Dragon Anatomy.
3. Bond Training-understanding and strengthening the bond and learning to deal with dragonet emotions
4. Weyr Tour-identification of off-limit areas to the Weyrlings
5. Identification of all the Weyrling Class members
6. Skill Assessment as relates to Chores. Chores will be posted by the sevenday, with Weyrlings rotating through the different chores
7. Butchering meat for each dragon
8. Basic Self-Defense

Months Two through Five
