[/b] dessmor exited the southern weyr, glancing once behind her as she did so. Pulling her warm cloak around her even more, she glanced up once from underneath her white hood. Although it was only mid afternoon, not many people were out and about, most likely due to the fact that the rain has just stopped a while ago. The rain drops sparkled in the sunlight. Hurrying along the wet path, she eventually reached the stables where her runner Ekssripitia was already waiting outside, saddled and ready. The black mare pranced about in the water, sending water droplets flying up everywhere. The thoroughbred had been a gift from her father the previous year, a replacement for her childhood one. It wasn't like she minded either; Ekssripitia was the perfect runner to use when it came to other things, such as pleasure rides in the forest and around the hold where she lived, when she had the time of course. It wasn't like Ekssripitia was cheap either; she knew that with a runner that had Ekssripitia's pedigree, she must have cost a pretty penny. Then again, her father never told her, preferring to spoil his daughter. U[/b] pon reaching the mare, Ildessmor reached up and stroked the mare's forehead absentmindedly, almost instinctively. Mounting Ekssripitia easily, she was soon out on the weyr face. The water flew out behind her as she galloped down the familiar path, her white cloak flying out behind her. She had been riding for years now, thanks to her father and his care to give her the instruction while she was still young. Only when the hold was a speck in a distance did she finally slow her mare down to a reasonable trot. With the fresh rainfall, Ekssripitia splashed through puddles. Settling back into the saddle, Ildessmor pulled the cloak around her once more and rearranged her dress. It wouldn’t do for her to appear rumpled if she ever came across another traveller on the path, especially if it was somebody she knew.H[/b] owever, as her runner moved on, Ildessmor began looking around, enjoying the ride around the lake more than ever. Thank god she had gotten the chance to get out of the weyr today, there was nothing planned, and she would have spent the rest of the afternoon and evening doing absolutely nothing, which never really sat well with Ildessmor. Not exactly her idea of a pleasant afternoon, she thought, grimacing at the very idea of having to go through that torture again. D[/b] ismissing the depressing thought from her mind, she turned the bend of the bath, the trees on either side suddenly revealing the glassy blue lake. Along the lake, she could just make out the hold, standing lone and strong among the grassy landscape. Nudging her runner forwards, the rider and runner began moving along the shore of the lovely lake. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/font]

D'mon signaled his dragon to wing down to the lake. The great bronze cupped his wings, slowing his descent. The sun shimmered on his multi toned hide as he plummeted into the lake. The brunette rider chuckled softly as his Hatath made large waves and splashed any nearby. He patted the thick neck fondly as he unbuckled his saddle straps. With a grunt,he dismounted into the shallow water. He swam with the saddle as far out of the water as possible.Upon reaching the shore,he set the leather upon a hot rock and decided he needed sunning as well. Do not stay out too long, The bronze rumbled.Your skin will burn. Its amazing how delicate humans are. The dragon shook his head as if bewildered and then plunged into deeper waters. D'mon scowled at his dragon's reminder.Last Turn he had fallen asleep outside. When he had awoken,he had been very red and his skin peeled. That had been very embarrassing. He would not make that mistake again. He was broken out of hos thoughts by the sounds of a Runnerbeast's hooves.Curious, he looked around and spotted the mare.It was definitely not from the Weyr's herd! The fine beast had fantastic gaits and a finely shaped head. But what was even finer than the mare was the one on her back.A slender girl in long skirts was astride the beast.Long blond rippled down her back and turquoise eyes gleamed in the sunlight.Entranced,he watched their approach.

[/b] ldessmor smiled as the runner galloped along the lake. The sun sparkled off the surface, making the ride seem only that much more magical. Thank god she had been allowed to bring Ekssripitia, without her mare, she wouldn’t have known what to do all day. Not to mention, it was nice to be able to ride around every once in a while, with nobody around.H[/b] er gold hair fluttered out behind her as she flew around the shore. As she was moving around the lake, however, her eye caught sight of something in the air, and glancing up, she saw a huge bronze dragon. Wondering what on earth they were doing here, she continued on her way, glancing occasionally at the huge beast. As it descened, she was able to see a rider sitting on top of the dragon/L[/b] ooking at the man, she tried to place him. Had she seen him before? At any rate, she didn’t really care, she was here for a ride after all, and what did it matter to her if a dragon was flying overhead? However, the next thing made her do a double take. The gigantic dragon suddenly plummeted into the water, sending water flying up everywhere. Shrugging her shoulders, she watched as the rider dismounted and began swimming towards the shore. C[/b] uriosity began bothering her, and after a few moments, she angled her runner so that she was now heading towards the mysterious man. After glancing at the water, she judged it to be shallow enough and changing course, she cut through the shallow water. Ekssripitia send up droplets of water as she galloped through.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/font]

D'mon watched as the girl cantered closer, he smile reserved, but his eyes burned intensely. As the mare galloped closer, through the shallows, droplets of water sparkling. The young woman's hair seemed to glow in sun and his hunger seemed to grow. The bronze, who had been rolling around in the lake, lifted his head in alarm at his rider's change in emotion. His eyes whirled with concern, not for his rider,no for the female. He bobbed his coppery head anxiously and whined, D'mon Mine! There is no Rising gold to excuse your behavior! Stop acting like a randy blue. The man ignored his dragon's scolding and walked toward the horse and rider. When she got close,he bowed and introduced himself. "Hello Milady. My name is D'mon and this is Hatath. You are?" He added, with a haughty tilt of his chin.

[/b] ldessmor heard a whinny emit from the bronze dragon, and turning toward him, she wondered what on earth was going on. Reining back her runner, she approached the man cautiously. However, the dragon was now watching the two of them rather carefully, and Ildessmor became more cautious than ever. What on earth was going on between the rider and the dragon? The dragon looked more worried than anything else.H[/b] aling Ekssripitia a few feet away from the man, she hesitated as the man introduced himself. Noting the haughty tilt of his chin, she deduced that this man was rather arrogant, and Ildessmor wasn’t sure what to do. My name is Ildessmor. she replied uncertainly. What did this man want anyways? [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/font]

"What is a fine Lady like you, Ildessmor, doing so far away from hold or Weyr? Are you a candidate? Is there any way I could assist you? Fine mare you have there by the way," He said, eyes sweeping over the horse with an appreciative eye.And if his gaze lingered a second too long on the girl's body, who was to know? The man stroked his goatee and his eyes glittered. The girl sounded so uncertain when she answered him...She must be holdbred, to own a runnerbeast so elegant and to ware such clothing. She should know better than to roam the land between weyr and hold by herself. There might be lustful men about...

[/b] ldessmor was now completely off her element. Who was this man anyways? She knew that he was a bronze rider, but why had she never seen him before in her life? It wasn’t the questions he was asking either, it was more of how he was asking them. I decided to take a ride for a change of scenery. she said, after a moment’s pause. And my father gave her to me. she finished, answering both of this questions at once.S[/b] he really should just excuse herself and get away from him as fast as she could, she thought, glancing around her. It was pretty much deserted, and she had no intention of falling victim to a man like him. Then again, it wasn’t like he could do anything anyways, he was bound by a code, was he not? Glancing at his dragon, she noted that it was still keeping an eye on the conversation going on between the two of the, which was both reassuring and frightening.I[/b] t was reassuring because dragons coudln’t be corrupt, could they? Even if the man wanted to do anything, there would be a dragon standing in the way between the two of them. Hopefully, the dragon could even interfere before it came to that. However, it was also worried Ildessmor quite a bit. Who knew if the dragon was corrupt or not? If it was, Ildessmor would have no chance trying to outride the dragon.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/font]

Definitely holdbred. the bronze rider thought.Only a holder could afford a runner like that.He noticed the girl was wary of him and he almost sighed. The brunette seemed to have that affect on girls...No code would protect the young woman today. It was written by holders to control dragonmen, and no one controlled D'mon! And the other Weyr residents would side with him.He was forty after all and who would deny a handsome old fellow? He could think of it as revenge on the Holds...The tall man's shoulders tensed almost imperceptably and mentally, he nudged his dragon's mind. Hatath,be sure to cut off the mare's escape. Then keep watch. The dragon's multifaceted eyes whirled an anxious yellow as he replied to his rider. Mine! Is this not against your code? Hush, love. Those laws are beyond your understanding. Is this not the same as you knocking a Gold from the skies and taking her? Usually coppery-bronze Hatath was swayed by his rider's logic. But the whole thing felt off.He sent the man a feeling of agreement and then turned his mind to the young lady's.Sliding into the conscious of others was not something dragons did often and for good reason.Bespeaking another was baring your unprotected soul to a stranger and invading the other's privacy. His tail tip shuddered as he spoke to Ildessmor. Mine is not acting right. He plans to take you. Please don't be alarmed when I rush your beast.I don't plan to catch you,I want you to escape. He withdrew from the girl's mind with a shudder, his rich baritone voice ceasing abruptly. The great dragon shook his wings, flicking water droplets into the sky. That was the only indication of his displeasure at betraying His.He lunged into the air, flapping his great sails twice before he landed to the right of the mare's shoulder. He stumbled purposely, his jaws snapping near the runnerbeast's face.He hoped his plan had worked...

[/b] ldessmor saw the man glance over at his dragon once before returning his attention to Ildessmor. What was going on? In a slightly panicked mode, she glanced around her surroundings. Seeing the woods off to one side, she made a mental note of it before turning her attention back to the situation at hand. As she did so, something pushed it's way into her mind, and she tried to keep a straight face as the dragon told her of his plan. Blinking was the only sign that she gave as she glanced over at the dragon. Thank god Ekssripitia trusted her rider with her life.W[/b] waiting for a moment, she then saw the dragon rush at her, like he said he would. Wheeling Ekssripitia around, she urged the mare into a gallop towards the dense trees, where she knew the dragon wouldn't be able to follow. Since he had no weapons that she could see, he would either have to give up the pursuit or follow her into the woods on foot, for the woods were too dense for the dragon to follow. From what she remembered, the woods surrounded the weyr gate, and from there, she could enter the weyr safely.T[/b] he wind blew in her face as she galloped towards the woods, and she half expected the dragon to come flying right after her. However, Ildessmor soon hit the woods, and the light was swallowed behind her. Not slowing Ekssripitia down, she led the mare further into the woods before turning towards the weyr once again. Hopefully the man would now leave her alone.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/font]

The dragon made a clumsy attempt at following the blonde, but gave up as soon as he reached the forest. He turned his head sheepishly at his rider.D'mon was furious. His actions today could possibly ruin his reputation,as he saw the girl gallop toward the Weyr.Snarling,he slapped the bronze's neck as he swung on.He grabbed the spike ahead of him and scowled, tack tucked under his arm. What was that!? Have your weyrling days come back to haunt you!? How did I get stuck with a clumsy beast like you!? Up now,we're going back to the Weyr. The dragon flinched, his eyes tinged with a grey hue.How could his rider say such awful things? But the dragon lifted his head high, eyes glinting in fierce pride.Hatath had done what was right, and the dragon knew it.Eyes swirling red,he looked back at his rider. I tried my best, but you are bringing about your own downfall with this horrid pride of yours.Your continued grudge against the Holds is reasonable, but taking it out on an innocent!? I am ashamed to have ever Impressed you! The dragon growled and bucked violently, his rider falling onto the soft warm earth.Hissing, the bronze kicked dirt over the man.He turned around and with a mighty leap,he was skyward and winging toward the Weyr at full speed. He didn't even puase to acknowledge the watch-dragon as he pelted toward his sandy hollow. D'mon struggled to his feet with many oaths, dusting off his now wrinkled clothing. With a feral snarl,he started his long walk toward the Weyr.

[/b] ldessmor rode through the forest as fast as she could, her hair getting tangled as she rode. What on earth had happened back there? Had the man actually tried to rape her? She just couldn't believe that a dragon rider would try to do such a thing. Ildessmor also knew she owed so much to the great bronze dragon at the moment. Without his help, there would have been no way that she could have escaped unscathed. But something would have to be done about corruption among the dragon riders, it was unbelievable that she was unable to go for a long ride on a runner without being preyed upon by men.I[/b] ldessmor had reached the weyr gates by now, and seeing the dragon guards, she blew past them, her hair tangled with twigs and her dress covered in dirt. She knew she looked like a mess, but nothing could be done about that, she would have to tell somebody about what had just happened. As she rode past the people in the marketplace, she saw how they glanced at her, with her hair in a mess and her dress in a mess. Honestly though, she didn't care. She was here and she was safe at the very least. and she had to find somebody that could do something about what had just happened.A[/b] s she was thinking about this, she saw a glint of bronze from the corner of her eye, and gasping, she looked up at the bronze dragon. She half expected the dragon rider to be sitting on the dragon's back, ready to ruin Ildessmor's reputation with a quick word. But the bronze would take Ildessmor's side over the dragon rider's, wouldn't he? However, upon closer inspection, she saw that the dragon rider was in fact, not on the dragon's back, thank goodness for that. Stopping outside the building, she stumbled off her runner, and after handing the runner to a stable boy, she mad her way inside, hoping that she would find the weyr trainer or somebody.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/font]
