Season:Summer Weather: Summer has come to Northern Weyr and with it a relief from the icy cold of the harsh winter. Fields have been plowed and stock tended to as time marches towards the fall.
Expectations: With Astoth not due to fly for another turn, and Basteth not due for two turns, the Weyr looks to try and keep their advantage over Southern.
Season:Winter Weather: With the advance of the southern winter comes the hurricanes that are expected. It seems the weather is being nice in that no storms have threatened the Weyr just yet.
Expectations: The eggs harden nicely on the sands and rumor has it they could hatch any day now.

The little brown girl had crept silently into the unused classroom.Lessons had been few and far between.She was too ignorant about dragons than she liked, so she had snagged a few scrolls to study.Now she sat,hand pinching her nose as she scolded herself.Her little pastel green was curled up next to her desk,wedge shaped head cocked. Why are you angry, did do something wrong NybokaMine? Nyboka blinked and sighed,running a sienna toned hand over her beast's head.The jewel-like eyes whirled worriedly and she rushed to reassure Rianth. No love, its just,I meant to study,but I forgot that I can't read... Oh,that was silly...What is reading? Nothing you need to trouble yourself with darling.Reading is to make meaning of the symbols on a piece of paper. Why would you need to do that? You can just talk.It is much simpler. Yes,but that is how you learn new things and remember the old. The green sighed and hummed her consent.She knew Her's was too prideful to ask for help, so she took it upon herself to get the girl some assistance.She took a deep breath and belted out mentally: Can a human who knows how to read come to classroom 2 and assist my rider? Nyboka stared at her dragoness aghast and highly embarrassed.

Kaelu was just pondering whether or not she would be a candidate for a dragon or a wher. She wasn't so sure anymore. First a dragon claimed she would make a fine dragonrider and then a wher handler saw her and told her that being a wher handler might be good for her. It made life so much more confusing. She bit her lip as she wandered halls after her chores muddling through it unhappily.
That was up until her thoughts were invaded by an unknown voice. Kaelu stopped and turned around, swearing that someone just had to be behind her. Or maybe just that someone was playing a prank on her. Making a face, she turned around and thought more about what the voice had said. Human, read, Classroom 2, and my rider. It was a dragon's open call that she had heard resonating in her mind. Heh, funny thing that a dragon's voice would come to her whilst she was troubling through dragon vs. wher.
"Chores are done." Kaelu mumbled thoughtfully to herself. "What the wherry? I might as well check it out, prank, accident, or not." She declared, throwing her hands up and heading towards the very classroom she had heard of. "Classroom 2."

The pastel dragonling turned her head at the approach of another human and chirruped
Nybokamine! Help has arrived!
The little green pranced toward the door and shoved it open with her paws,leaving little runnels in the wood.Her human cried out in anger,but the lithe little dragon ignored her.Instead,she focused on the incoming girl and bugled a sweet,soprano greeting.
Thank you soo much for coming! Help mine read,she is being stubborn about asking for assistence.
Nyboka doubted the blush on her face would show on her dark complexion,but she lowered her head anyway.Pushing the scrolls aside,she stood from her chair and walked over to where her dragon prancing dragon had the poor girl cornered.She extended a small,sable hand and smiled.
"Hello.My name is Nyboka.Uh,would you happen to know how to read?"
She felt quite foolish for asking.Most everyone on Pern was literate,why would this girl be any different?

"Oh!" Kaelu blinked at Rianth as she cried out in surprise. "Well, hello there yourself." She smiled then and looked towards the back at the room to where the young dragon's rider was. She waved her hand and after being helped away from the energetic little thing, Kaelu accepted the offered hand with a hearty shake. "Hi there." Kaelu beamed back at Nyboka, her voice resonating easily in the small room. "I'm Kaelu, and yes, I should say I do." At that she gave a nod, agreeing with her own words, hair bouncing along with the movement.
"What do you need help with?" Kaelu asked, looking about the classroom curiously. She wasn't sure of what she would really be needed for. Most people knew how to read by this age. Still, that didn't mean that people might fall through the cracks. It happens, at least it was possible in some way. "I'll help with what I can, but I don't know how much of help I can be." She shrugged, turning her dark gaze back to Nyboka, a smile still gracing her facial features.

"Ah, If you could just tell me what each of these scrolls is titled,uum, that'd be great. Are you a Weyrling too?"
The scrolls each pertained to the development of dragons, sewing straps, and mating flights.Nyboka had gotten through class so far by staying quiet and sticking to studying scrolls with diagrams and pictures.Still she was glad someone had come to aid her.This girl was friendly,which also good.She firmly grasped the other's hand and shook it before releasing.

"Oh! It's no problem at all, really." Kaelu shook her head with a smile as she spoke. Her gaze went to the lot of scrolls before her, some of the titles were a bit faded. It made her squint a little to read them off. "Weyrling? Heh, I was searched and all, but didn't have the luck to impress. Always another hatching, but there's a bloke who thinks I'd make a good wherhandler, too." Her voice was loud without her trying and she stood up and pointed to the first. "This one is about mending tears in riding straps."
She peered back at the rest. A lot of them were about riding straps and leather care. Hmm, made sense to her that they were organized by likeness. "This one is about attaching buckles and their straps, and this one is about making the entire harness." There was a jump then to young dragons. Well, a weyrling needed to make many sets of riding harnesses. Kaelu nodded as she read off the next few while she scanned the titles, "This is about average growth rates, this one is dragon growth, this one is about young dragon health... Any of them what you were looking for?" Kaelu asked curiously.

Ah, so this girl had been left standing at the last Hatching. Her brown eyes turned sympathetic. It was always a blow to be rejected by a dragon, but it made you feel even better when a beast finally chose you. She tilted her sable head at the mention of wherhandling. She hadn't heard much about the creatures, but she knew that they were as important as dragons.
"Umm, yes. I was looking for the scrolls on mending and making straps.Thank you so much Kaelu!"
Nyboka figured that getting ahead of the class would benefit the pair. Straps were important for flying, and even tough they wouldn't be flying for months yet, it was good to be prepared.She grabbed the scrolls Kaelu had indicated and peered at them. A sigh of relief escaped the former drudge.There were pictures in this one, so it wouldn't be that hard to get through.
Meanwhile, little green Rianth was rather bored. She was stuck in a classroom full of ripable,breakable things, so she couldn't play. The dragonet growled faintly. She could care less about straps, she just wanted to roll in a good patch of mud.
