Season:Summer
Weather: Summer has come to Northern Weyr and with it a relief from the icy cold of the harsh winter. Fields have been plowed and stock tended to as time marches towards the fall.
Expectations: With Astoth not due to fly for another turn, and Basteth not due for two turns, the Weyr looks to try and keep their advantage over Southern.

Season:Winter
Weather: With the advance of the southern winter comes the hurricanes that are expected. It seems the weather is being nice in that no storms have threatened the Weyr just yet.
Expectations: The eggs harden nicely on the sands and rumor has it they could hatch any day now.

Southern Weyr’s Weyrling Program

Day One
Once Impression is made, the dragonet should be fed then lead away to the barracks to sleep the rest of the day. The new Weyrling is free to go to the Hatching Feast once everything is settled in. Belongings and other personal things will be put in the barracks and be ready for when you return.

First Sevenday

On your first morning of being a Weyrling, food will have been prepared for your dragonet. Feed them first thing then lead them to the designated area to sleep. Clean up and change, then eat breakfast yourself. For the first few months of Weyrling life, breakfast will be taken in the barracks, as outside contact is detrimental to the health of the dragon/rider bond. After eating, lessons begin. Beginning lessons include the Code of Honor and what it means, Chain of Command, Beginning Dragon care, Conduct and Rules. Lessons will go untilt he dragonets wake up, in which case they need to be feed, bathed and oiled. Then the Weyrlings eat lunch and have basic academic lessons with an Approved Harper. The dragonets are fed after dinner, then bathed and reoiled once more. After that, the Weyrlings have time to themselves in the barracks, outside contact being forbidden.

Sevenday Two through Month Three
A basic physical fitness regimen begins before the dragons awake. When the dragonets awake they are fed and briefly washed before exercises concerning the bond are begun. Once they are asleep again, riders may bathe and eat. Lessons after breakfast now center on Dragon Care, Bond Strengthening, Teamwork Drills, and Sword Fighting. After Lunch dragonets will have swimming drills for a few hours then are oiled. The Weyrlings then have academic study until dinner when the dragonets are re-fed, this time utilizing hunting skills. After dinner the Weyrlings have the time to themselves with outside contact still being forbidden.

Month Four through Six
The Physical fitness regimen continues. Month four brings new things for the Weyrlings. Meals are now taken in the Dining Cavern with the rest of the Weyr, they will be given chores around the Weyr while their dragonets sleep and academic lessons are now discontinued. Morning lessons continue as before, while afternoon lessons work on strengthening flight muscles. By Month Five, the dragonets should be taking short flights unburdened with a rider. Month Six they should be taking short flights with their riders. Flying gear will be made during this time. Swimming is still mandatory. The Weyrlings do not have much time for socializing because of lessons but after dinner they may do so if they have the free time.

Month Seven Through Nine

All but the green and gold riders may begin exploring physical relationships since Flight etiquette and rules are discussed in Month seven. By now the Weyrlings are working through wing drills and flight formations. By the end of Month Seven, they are learning Between markers and by Month eight they have made successful flights between. Month nine begins firestone training. Chores continue, lessons are now done in the air more often than not, and punishment is severe. Leaders are slowly being leaned on as the Weyrlingmaster is preparing to step back from teaching.

Month Nine Through Twelve

Chores are completely cut out since whenever the dragon is awake and not eating, they are in the air flying in formation, drills or mock battles. Each color is separated and worked on to enhance their special skills, then brought back together to fight as a group. A Wingleader has been chosen by now to lead the class and the Weyrlingmaster is now only supervising. By Month Eleven the Weyrlings begin taking a series of exams and enduring harsh inspections, if they pass, Month Twelve sees them going out on patrol over Southern Skies as Junior Riders with a Senior Wingleader and wingseconds.

Graduation

Six Months of Patrol will see the Weyrlings once more enduring harsh exams and inspections. Should each pair pass to the satisfaction of the Weyrleader and his Wingleaders they will be promoted to Senior Rider and placed into an appropriate wing. A feast will be held and each Wingleader will administer the proper greeting at the dinner.

(Please feel free to rp out any of the lessons or actions described above. Remember the basic rules as stated and try not to get into too much trouble)
